NAIL TRIMMING &

GRINDING SERVICE

(Dog and Cat Pedicurist)

Does your dog or cat have long nails?  Do you find that you have trouble clipping them yourself or unsure of what you should be doing?

I offer a mobile pet nail clipping and filing/grinding service.  I do dog and cats nails by trimming them close as possible to the quick.

The quick is the blood vessel inside the nail.  If the nail has grown too long the blood vessel then needs to recede.  This is when a nail trim and file/grind is performed as close as possible to the quick and regular visits (weekly) is scheduled to assist the quick to recede.  If left longer then the nail begins to grow causing the quick to move forward again.

Once the quick begins to recede after regular trimming, your pets nails will shorten over time and will not only reduce the pain caused when the nail strikes the ground but also will assist in prevention of digging holes and scratching but reduce the damage to furniture, timber floors and your pet will come to like having their nail trimmed from regular visits.

Once the quick has receded and the nail is trimmed and attained at a suitable length then a monthly visit is scheduled to prevent the nails from overgrowing again.

For pets who show aggression and do not like their feet touched, for my safety up until they are retrained to have their feet handled will be required to wear a MUZZLE to protect not only myself but the owner.  These dogs will need to be flooded with treats- turn the negative behaviour into a positive reward by giving the pet something to eat whilst having their feet handled.  An extra charge applies to aggressive pets and assistance is required by the owner at time of trimming and grinding.

EAR PLUCKING, CLEANING & ORAL HEALTH CHECK

(WHATS THIS?)

This extra service will cost you $10 if you have a breed of dog who has hairs growing in the ear canal and $8 if your breed does not require the hair removal or ear canal is clear of hair.  I then put ear cleaner inside and clean the ears and notify you if your dog has an ear infection or ear mite issue and you can then decide what course of treatment you will do.  Some ear infections will require veterinary prescription whilst minor issues I do supply the drops at time of service ranging between $12 and $15 depending on which medication your pet will require.  The oral health check is to notify you of mouth infections, teeth issues and periodontal disease (early detection). If any concerns are found at time of visit you will be notified and advised on how to deal with the situation.   Normally diet is the biggest contributor to mouth diseases.  Soft foods and nothing given to remove dental plaque and calcium deposits to the teeth and gums.  This is an optional service and you will be asked if you require this at time of consultation.  The soft foods are also a problem for anal sacs.  The sacks get hard as they are not being used to pass through firm and solid stools.  Known as Anal Sac disorder.  Usually affects the small to medium breeds of dogs.

Look forward to seeing you and your mate/s soon.
